All participating rides are fundraisers for the sponsoring organizations. Each event features multiple route distances, making the events suitable for a wide variety of riders.

The Redbud Ride

London, KY

April 17

Presented by London Downtown, the Redbud Ride is the first event of the 2021 Kentucky Cycling Challenge located in London, KY. The Redbud Ride was established in 2006. The ride is inspired by the Redbud trees that surround the routes during early spring. The Redbud Ride attracts professionals and amateurs cycling enthusiasts from across the country. The rest-stops are always a party, thanks to our wonderful volunteers and host locations! The Redbud Ride offers four route options: 24-mile flat course for beginners, 34-mile at a casual pace for experienced riders, 72- mile intermediate route mixed with short hills, and the 100-mile advanced route considered the pinnacle of the Redbud Ride. Active.com named the Redbud Ride “Century Ride of the Year.” Riders receive a registration goody bag, a post-ride meal voucher, and special Redbud Ride t-shirt.  Riders will also have the option of purchasing a unique Redbud Ride jersey.

The Horsey Hundred

Georgetown, KY 

May 28-30

Presented by the Bluegrass Cycling Club and hosted by Georgetown, KY – May 28-30, 2021. The second “leg” of the 2021 Kentucky Cycling Challenge is the Horsey Hundred. The event features a large vendor expo, live music and local food trucks. The rides on Saturday and Sunday feature multiple marked routes, ranging in distance from 26 miles to the signature 100-mile century on Saturday. Both days, riders will be provided with maps, SAG support and lunch after the ride. Last year, the ride had participants from 27 different states, including large groups from Michigan and the Chicago area, as well as a large group from Ontario, Canada.  **Note registration already is full at 1000.  Please add your name to the waiting list in case there is a second round registration.

The Licking Valley Century

Alexandria, KY 

June 26

Presented by the Cincinnati Cycle Club. The Licking Valley Century will begin near Alexandria, Ky in Campbell County and travel through Pendleton, Bracken and Robertson counties. Enjoy the beauty and challenge of riding the ridge tops and valleys of Northern Kentucky. Come and see the beautiful shaded valleys and amazing vistas while pedaling along roads with very little traffic. Routes offered include a challenging 103 mile century route, a 65 mile metric century, and 41 and 29 mile loops. Our routes will have SAG support and fully stocked rest stops with local flair to quench your thirst and foods to energize you throughout the ride. After you successfully complete your ride, relax and enjoy a tasty meal and cold beverage. Event proceeds benefit the Henry Hosea House in Newport, KY, a wonderful local food bank that served over 48,000 meals in 2020.

Rock the Crater 

Middlesboro, KY 

August 7

Rock the Crater Ride is a fundraiser hosted by and benefiting First Priority a non-profit 501(c)3. The ride begins and runs all the way through downtown Middlesboro before journeying to the backroads through the beautiful and scenic hills and hollows of Eastern KY with minimal traffic. A lot of our roads wind beside the creeks lined with trees offering some shade along the way. Rock The Crater has 5 different routes to accommodate everyone from a beginner to an avid cyclist with distances of 21 mile, 38 mile, 59 and a full century.  All of our routes will run through part of the Historical Cumberland Gap National Park. You will not want to miss the opportunity to come visit us and ride RTC. The Tri-State area of Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia a great place to visit. It is rich in history, sightseeing, hiking, cycling, and some of the best views you will find.

Limestone Cycling Tour

Maysville, KY

September 11

Presented by Limestone Cycling Tour, Inc., Maysville, KY. Special plans are underway for the ‘September 11th ’ ride which this year coincides with ‘Patriot Day’. Join us remembering those lives lost and recognizing our military and first responders. This year’s event will be our 13th year for the annual charity bike ride. In 2020, Limestone Cycling Tour hosted nearly 600 cyclists from 20 states and are expecting 1000+ this year! Event participants will enjoy the beauty and tranquility that surrounds historic Maysville, Mason County, and many other communities in the local area. Once again 4 routes are offered including a challenging century, a metric century, the 40-mile and 25-mile loops. Routes are fully supported, staffed by friendly volunteers and you will love the hospitality that is included. After a fun and challenging day on the road, cyclists can relax while listening to some local musical talent and enjoy a local brew where the KOM & QOM awards will be announced.
